The Pelham Police Department supports several non-profit organizations by raising awareness and through fundraising. Below are the charities supported by the Pelham Police Department.
The Philip Davis Foundation is dedicated to honoring the lives of fallen heroes. It provides support and assistance to the families of first responders who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty. Established in 2011, the Foundation strengthens the relationship between law enforcement, business and civic leaders, and citizens. It allows us to express our gratitude to the fallen officers’ families for the ultimate sacrifice of their loved ones.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics raises awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics Alabama. Law enforcement officers from around the state make up the ALETR. Officers do fundraising throughout the year, and the Pelham Police Department is one of the top fundraising agencies in the state.
The Wings of Hope Pediatric Foundation supports families with children who have been given a terminal diagnosis. It provides a variety of different types of support, such as meals, house cleaning, lawn care and (when necessary) financial assistance with paying bills. This support often enables families to better focus on their child, and the time they have together.
The Exceptional Anglers program teaches basic fishing skills to students with special needs. Pelham City Schools, Alabaster City Schools, Shelby County Schools and Jefferson County Schools get to enjoy a day at Oak Mountain State Park every May where they can fish, participate in art projects, perform with local musicians, listen to storytellers and learn water safety.
